Stetson Bros. was founded in 1946 by Herb and Harold Stetson as a plumbing and electrical supply store. They later added heating, appliances and hardware and became a True Value Hardware store.

Following Harold's death in the early 70s, his sons Robert and David Stetson took over ownership and changed their affiliation to Ace Hardware.
